This is the front page of the SPAGHETTI BOWL website. This is part of the historical project regarding AMERICAN FOOTBALL in Italy: www.americanfootballitalia.com . Due to our researches this is the second game of American Football played in Italy during WAR TIME.
We also found some notes regarding a football game probably played in Livorno on a field named YANKEE STADIUM. Between the lines we can clearly understand that there was a "REGULAR SEASON" for the 442nd Infantry Regiment and a 1945 Season in Italy. Here below the excerpt of the news:
"442nd Infantry Regiment - Narrative History - December 1945:
The 442d football team, after a short layoff with the close of the regular season, played the champion 351st team from the 88th Division on 25 December at the Yankee Stadium, Italy, as a special treat for sports fans. Going into the game as underdogs, the 442d eleven dominated the game and won a hard-earned 7-6 victory over the previously unbeaten and unscored on representatives from the "Blue Devils".
